Your tree can reach a point where it’s dead or dying beyond return. If it’s become a danger to your family, members of the public or could damage the surrounding area, it’s unfortunately time to remove it.

A diseased tree is a common cause for tree removal. Particularly as contaminated trees are often contagious and pose a threat to their surroundings. In Sussex and across the UK there are a number of emerging tree diseases that have the potential to become epidemics. Therefore, we could see huge losses to the UK tree population in our towns, cities, gardens and countryside. Some of the most recently reported pests and diseases affecting our trees are:

Arboricultural Excellence are qualified to give tree health inspections. Unfortunately, we have diagnosed diseased trees many times over the last few years. However, on a positive note, we’ve been able to act upon our inspections to slow the spread of disease by removing the infected tree or trees.

Tree Decay is usually found at the base of a tree and generally indicates an underlying health problem. Decay is a condition that results from the digestion of wood by fungi and other microbes. Subsequently, the wounds through the bark start the processes that lead to decay. This is not a reason to remove your tree but a definite indication that the tree needs attention. However, some of our customers do decide to have the tree removed for peace of mind, particularly if the tree is close to a building or poses a danger.

Your tree may have always been in great health, but due to storm damage and the elements is causing you concern. A tree is considered a hazard when it has significant structural defect that may cause the tree, or a portion of it, to fall on someone or something of value.

Construction work can sometimes bring bad news for your trees. They may now be in a hazardous location and legally require removal.

Similarly, you could have a large area of trees that need to be felled for an extension or outbuilding.

Your tree may be overshadowed by much larger trees and doesn’t have the space it needs to grow. Hence, by removing the tree, you are allowing the more dominant trees to flourish. Alternatively, you may wish to fell a tree to make room for a new landscaping scheme, or to create more light for other plants and bushes.
